Preparing your home

Do what you can to make your home move in ready.  Don’t do anything more than you can afford!  Be sure and keep this to more cosmetic repairs like new paint, repairing leaky faucets, and decluttering closets. Don’t forget the outside!  Making the outside appealing to buyers will get them to want to come in and take a look.  You will have to keep your home show ready all the time to make it easier for you to sell your home.

Finding a Real Estate Professional

Do your research!  This is the person will be working with you to sell your home.  Here are a few things you should think about:

  • What services to they offer?
  • What kind of experience do they have?
  • How would you market my home?
  • What is your fee?

Start thinking about your next home

You are going to want to start thinking about where you are wanting to move next.  By planning ahead you will be able to save time and money.  Your Real Estate Professional will be able to help you find your next home.  If you are planning on purchasing another home you will need to get pre-approved for financing so that you will know how much you can afford.  This way you will be able to eliminate surprises.


Your Real Estate Professional will do a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) to compare the homes in your area to find the best price for your home.  Over pricing your home could deter a buyer from looking at your home because it is out of their price range.

Make your house available

Some Sellers make restrictions on when prospective buyers can view their house.  Making your home available for showings will help your Real Estate Professional.  Also, it would be a good idea for you not to be there at the time of showing.  You don’t want people to feel like intruders.


What are you willing to give up?  Are the appliances negotiable?  How much are you willing to go down in price?  Knowing the outcome you want will help you not miss a sale over minor details.
